When you first drive your vehicle from a car dealership its wheel alignment is perfect; unfortunately, like many things, as time goes by your alignment will become off. Normally with regular car maintenance and wheel alignment service, you might not notice too much of a difference. But if you skip services or have an older car, there are some signs that point to the need for a wheel alignment service.
How to Know If You Need a Wheel Alignment Service
- Tire Wear
You can tell a lot about your car’s alignment by taking a look at your tire wear. If you notice that there is uneven wear, especially around the edges of your tires, that’s not a good sign. Typically, you should see even wear and no excessive wear around the edges if your alignment is good.
- Steering Wheel Issues
Have you noticed that your steering wheel seems off? If you’re driving and feel that your car and steering wheel is pulling to one side, this is often an indication that your alignment is off. Piggybacking on this point, if you notice that your car isn’t driving in a straight line, this also indicates an alignment issue.
Normally, your car should drive perfectly straight, if it doesn’t, it’s time to visit our Fred’s Auto Repair team.
- Handling
Another indicator of an alignment problem is how your car handles and drives. A vehicle that needs alignment may feel hard to drive and control. You may also notice that it is more difficult to control on turns.
If you experience this while driving it is best to contact your local mechanic as it can be a safety issue and potentially lead to other problems.
- Odd Sounds & Noises
Weird sounds and noises coming from your vehicle while driving can be caused by improper alignment. Such things a knocking, squeaks, or even rubbing type sounds can point to alignment and other issues with your suspension.
