The Benefits of Car Air Conditioning Repair & Reasons You Need to Maintain Your AC

One of the luxuries we often take for granted when driving (especially in the hot summer) is our air conditioning system. Unfortunately, if there is an issue with our AC, it is quickly apparent, and sometimes can be unbearable.

So that is why we’ve put together this list of reasons to get your car’s air conditioning repaired the moment something seems off.

  • Maximize Your Vehicle’s Performance

The air conditioning is just one part of many components of your AC system car. When an AC system fails, it can have a domino effect on your vehicle – including increased fuel consumption. The declined performance of your AC will also be noticeable, as you will have warmer air coming into your cabin. This will make your car stuffier and a lot warmer even when you have the air conditioning on.

  • Lower the Chance of Compressor Failure

An AC compressor is a component that is the heart of the AC system and keeps your vehicle comfortable and cool. If your car’s air conditioning is not properly maintained and repaired, it can lead to major issues like leaks and blockages. When this does occur, repairs can be costly and take time to properly restore.

Always be sure that you take your car in for maintenance and never skip car air conditioning repairs.

  • Keep Your Cabin Safe

The cabin, or inside of your car, is where you spend 100% of your time when driving. For this reason, if you fail to maintain and repair your air conditioning, like a home’s AC, allergens and the overall air quality inside can plummet. Besides allergens and air quality, if there is something wrong with your cabin filter, you may even have pollen potentially entering your cabin – this poses a huge safety risk for yourself, and anyone else traveling in the car with you. We check cabin filters on every service.

Our team can always lend a hand and let you know what needs to be repaired or fixed, and you can rest assured your car will be safe to drive once we’re done.

  • Bad Smell

When the AC hasn’t been turned on in a long time and you notice a bad smell once you turn it on, this may be the sign of a bacteria buildup in your system. The best and easiest way to avoid this is to periodically turn on your system and let it run for a minute or two.

  • Excessive Moisture Levels

One telltale sign of AC issues is excessive moisture within your car. The cause of this moisture is often when debris or grime is caught in the air conditioning system and makes it malfunction. If you do happen to notice more moisture than normal, be sure to take your car in for AC repair and inspection. Don’t let the problem get worse over time.

  • Odd Noises

If you turn on your air conditioning and immediately notice odd noises, contact your local mechanic to let them know about the issue. Often, odd AC sounds can be the cause of having cross-contaminated refrigerant. Other reasons for weird sounds can be clattering due to damaged parts or pieces moving around in your system.

The only noise you should hear is the normal sound of air coming through your vents; any other sound should be an immediate red flag.

  • Fluid Leak

When you notice a leak of fluid coming from your car, it can be potentially dangerous chemicals from your AC that are harmful to the environment. In the event your system is seeping refrigerant, it can also cause harm to your engine, and in some cases, these amount to rather costly repairs.

Never try to fix a leak yourself, always leave this job to an ASE certified automotive professional.

  • Hot Air

As we all know, the main job of your car’s AC is to provide cool air in your car. The moment you feel hot or warm air emitting from your system when it’s on, you have a big problem. Some reasons it may be blowing warm air are issues with the condenser, a possible cracked compressor, or even a broken belt. As we’ve mentioned previously in this post, don’t ignore the problem, and be sure to reach out to a mechanic so they can help address the issue.
