Help! My Car Won’t Start!

The worst thing that can happen is turning the key of your car – and the car won’t start. This can be due to a few different things. There are a few steps that you can take to determine what the issue is. Our ASE certified car mechanics advise that you do the following:

  • Slow to Start Up

If the car is very slow to start when you turn on the ignition this could be indicative of a faulty battery or a battery that needs to be replaced. If you hear a ‘click-click-click’ sound when you turn the key, then it is most definitely your car battery that needs to be replaced.

  • Check Headlights

Turn your headlights on and off. If your lights are dimmed, this can also point to a dead battery.

  • Take A Look At Your Battery

You will be able to see the date of the battery on the black box. Batteries last about four years, so if it is older than four years then it likely needs to be replaced. Also, check for crystallization around the battery terminal. If there is crystallization (which looks like white dust), it should be cleaned.
