It is important to do your research and find out where you can buy the best used cars. Here are some tips you can take to heart when purchasing a used car:

• Do Your Research

Research places and online stores to determine which are the most affordable and trustworthy car dealers. Do not neglect to consider government auctions. Read reviews of both the car and the dealer. Research the type of car you need, the model, usability, and the features available in the car and models as well. Ask for the car’s history and records to test its condition and to determine whether it has been in an accident.

• Have a Car Mechanic Inspect the Vehicle

• Know the Value of the Car

Knowing what the Blue Book value is will help you estimate what the dealer paid for the car. Obtain a Carfax report to review the reported accident history, if applicable.  Do not choose a car because it is cheap.  Choose it because it is a good value.  Know the resale value for the car and always try to buy cars with the appropriate mileage deduction on them.

• Test Drive the Car

Take the car for a test drive to check its performance. You can get a feel for how the car runs and assess it according to your experience.

• Check the Body of the Vehicle

Make sure to check for water and flood damage. Check for mud around the car and take note of any damp smells. Look under the vehicle for any fluid leakage. Make sure the rear wheels are lined up squarely behind the front wheels and that the vehicle body is aligned.
